Eva's First Day of School!

Eva had her first day of preschool today! She's in Mrs. Ansell's class. There are only seven other children in her room, and they all have fall birthdays, so everyone's about to turn four. Here she is in the hallway right before going in:

She went to her orientation on Friday morning with her Nana. Mr. Milkweed was at work, and I was with Silas while he was having minor surgery, so neither of us could be there for that, but today was the OFFICIAL first day! On Friday they had been given little people templates that we were supposed to decorate as a family effort in our child's likeness.

Here she is showing off the front of her little "mini-me:"

Super exciting stuff!!

The Outer Banks!

We took so many wonderful pictures of our beach vacation with the Corner clan that we need to split them into a few different blog posts! For now, feast your eyes on the relaxing goodness:

Hiking, Pulling to Standing, and More!

Whew! M-L here. Lots of things have been going on-- it's time to update!

It's a bit old, but here's a shot of me with the altar arrangement  I made at the start of June for altar guild. I worked alongside another church member and tried to copy what she did; it turned out pretty well, I think! They let me take it home:

I've been getting more and more involved in the life of our church, and it's been immensely satisfying for me.

Then we had our 8th anniversary on June 14th, and with Nana at our place in Richmond (all by herself!) watching the kidlets, we hiked up to the top of Humpback Rock! It's a hike we did all the time when we first started dating-- we figured out it had been 12 years since we'd been back.

We were up high!

Now on to what you're really here for-- E and S!

The big news with Silas is that he's started pulling up onto his feet, as opposed to just his knees. I actually got a picture of the very first time he ever did this, and here it is!

He looks thoroughly unimpressed, doesn't he? I mean, obviously he knew he could do this-- what's all the kerfluffle about, people?

We had a playdate at E's friend Lily's house, where she borrowed a tutu and had a grand time playing in thr yard.

We also had a shipment of baby gates from Amazon (reference Silas' recent advancement, as described above) and she climbed in the box and covered herself up, declaring that she was a penguin who had come in the mail!

That's about it for now. We're headed to the beach this coming Saturday with the Corner clan, so expect lots  of beachy action in the next update!

Welcome!

We've started a blog to keep family and friends abreast of the happenings in our little corner of the world-- and the happenings with the little Corners! While M-L will be the primary contributor to this blog, J might pop in occasionally. Don't expect any lengthy missives-- just lots of pictures and little tidbits. We'll try to update weekly, if we can!

A recent, cute shot of Silas:

Other tidbits:

We've started saying a bedtime prayer with Eva, which consists of having her thank God for three things. Her first trio: "Thank you, God, for persons, toys, and rocks."

Silas zooms around the house like a crawling champion. He's much more curious about his environment that Eva-- he's quite the explorer, while Eva was an examiner. As a result, he's already gotten in to the cat food and (unfortunately) the toilet bowl cleaner, so gates and child-proofing measures are afoot!
